Direct Bonding
The Direct Bonding of a lens to a display greatly increases the display's effective contrast ratio and improves its viewable quality, particularly in bright environments. This structure is also thinner, more robust, and less prone to condensation. Previously, Direct Bonding has been mostly used in specialist military or aviation applications, but now the benefits are becoming more widely available.
ELK has developed its own Direct Bonding mass production process using an exclusive Optical Clear Adhesive (OCA), and optimised for the mobile phone market. ELK is able to guarantee high yields to our customers, and to rework faulty assemblies both in production and from field returns. The ELK process is compatible with LCDs and OLED displays.
In most cases, ELK will laminate a Capacitive Touch sensor to the lens before Direct Bonding this to a display. As ELK is able to manufacture these sensors and the glass lens in-house, we can offer a total service to our customers - transforming a display into a complete Direct Bonded Touch Screen assembly.
