Large Capacitive Touch Assemblies
The emergence of tablet PC's and media readers over the last year is driving the demand for larger touch sensors and assemblies. The use of Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) sensors, as manufactured by ELK, rather than glass sensors, enables thinner and lighter final products.
There are specific challenges associated with the manufacture of larger touch assemblies. ELK's innovative roll-to-roll sensor production lines installed in 2010 address these challenges. They have greater throughput than conventional sensor production lines, require less operators, generate higher yields, and allow ELK to manufacture to stricter tolerances. They also enable the use of higher standard cleanrooms to support greater manufacturing yields.
